Jeremiah 18:16-18

¹⁶To make their land a ^(A)desolation,
An object of perpetual ^(B)hissing;
Everyone who passes by it will be astonished
And ^(C)shake his head.
¹⁷‘Like an ^(D)east wind I will ^(E)scatter them
Before the enemy;
I will ^[a]show them ^(F)My back and not My face
^(G)In the day of their calamity.’”

¹⁸Then they said, “Come and let us ^(H)devise plans against Jeremiah. Surely the ^(I)law is not going to be lost to the priest, nor ^(J)counsel to the sage, nor the divine ^(K)word to the prophet! Come on and let us ^(L)strike at him with our tongue, and let us ^(M)give no heed to any of his words.”
